Tasting Notes: Liqueur Cherry
It looks extremely young for a 6 year old wine, with dark purple colour and youthful density. We loved this wines earthy / plummy nose with licorice and oak playing a supporting role. The palate has upfront liqueur cherry flavours along with a bitter chocolate intensity. There are some savoury, secondary characteristics showing through, like leather and cigar box but all up it is looking real good for another couple of years drinking yet.
Perfectly matched to a platter of charcuterie
Background Information: This is comes off a single vineyard located on the shore of Lake Hume, in the north east of Victoria. The property is family owned and run with the vines hand pruned and hand-picked at vintage time, normally in late March. The grapes are pressed in an old fashion basket press and matured in French oak for 12 months and is neither fined not filtered before bottling. So in summary this will put hairs on your chest.
