Beautifully aromatic with passionfruit and orange blossom, complemented by delicate floral notes. The palate is lively with a tropical fruit punch, a minerally core and a dry citrus finish.
Background Information: Eestate grown, from an 85 acre site, 500 metres above sea level. It was planted in 1998 and today produces fabulous Sauvignon Blanc.
Interestingly events Manager of the London International Wine Challenge, Mr. Michel Florence confirmed: "At the International Wine Challenge 2006, Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills reigns supreme with over 50% of Australian Sauvignon Blanc medals originating from this region." The top nearest competing regions could each only lay claim to a share of about 13% of the tally. According to Mr. Florence: "The results demonstrate that the International Wine Challenge judges recognise the Adelaide Hills as a world-class region for producing Sauvignon Blanc."
To add more fuel to the fire in the latest Halliday ‘Wine Companion’ the Adelaide Hills has been highlighted as the Sauvignon Blanc capital of Australia with 12 of the top 13 producers listed. Just as significantly, however, has been the inclusion of 17 five star Adelaide Hills wineries and an impressive list of wines that rated 94 points or higher (including Chardonnay). This is an extraordinary result for such a young, developing wine region as the Adelaide Hills, with only around 30 cellar doors, many of them still only weekend operations.
