Tasting Notes: Blueberry Pie
Dark cherry aromas mingle with blueberry and clove. The palate is full of dark berry flavours, regional spice and soft, ripe tannins to finish.
Background Information: This is the 2nd vintage we have stocked from this well known Pyrenees property and this vintage is so different to the just sold out 2006.
This new vintage is a fuller bodied creature, in comparison to the softly earthy ’06. The colour is very striking, which could be from the influence of 2% Viognier used. It was matured for 18 months in a combination of new, one, and two-year-old French and American oak barriques.
The 2007 / 2008 vintage was rated excellent for reds, in the Pyrenees region. The growing season provided ideal winter and spring rains, finished by a warm dry summer and autumn.
The winery is currently selling this wine for $20 at their cellar door, under the proprietary label. Our friendly $10 price means you can buy two.
