This Studio Ink sure is not hard to like. There is loads of stewed fruit on the nose and the palate has medium weight with heaps of black fruit and charry oak.
Background Information: We love the idea of not sticking to the rules and this label sure does stick it to the wine establishment. This is what the winery has to say about their Studio Ink label…
“Studio Ink is a wine label concept that allows Pyren Vineyard to collaborate with a unique set of artists with a mission to create an evolving range of new and compelling artwork. This label intends to incorporate artwork as proposed by the artists, with Pyren granting a license of artistic freedom to those involved”
…and why not?
We also enjoyed the wine inside. This time-honoured Australian 70/30 blend is made from estate grown fruit in the Warrenmang area. We have been put on notice just a few times that us old wine tossers bore the youngsters senseless with stories of glorious Shiraz/Cab blends of yesteryear, but with the help of the Joy family at Pyren they can taste a immortal style themselves.
James Halliday gave this wine 93 POINTS (drink 2024, $30) in his Wine Companion magazine
