Aromas of sweet plum jam, with a palate that is rich and generous. It is showing loads of warm chocolate and plum flavours and soft Central Victorian tannins to finish.
Background Information: This is a special wine, made by a tiny producer in Ararat. Last year 6Js were allocated only a small amount of the 2004 blend. This year we have been able to squeeze out plenty more. The winery producers a miserly 1000 odd cases per vintage and we have got just under half of that output. The owner / winemaker has worked for 6Js on and off over the years and is a good friend. It is due to this friendship that we are able to access these quality wines, at ridiculously cheap prices.
Mick and his brother run all forms of the business, with some ‘old heads’ overseeing the process. These ‘old heads’ are their father and uncles who just so happens were the men who planted the original Mt Langi Ghiran vineyards back in 1968.
Traditional winemaking techniques are used. The wines are made in shallow, open top fermentation tanks, the skins hand plunged to extract intense colour, then basket pressed and the wine allowed to settle before being stored in a variety of American and French oak.
All prices are in Australian Dollars and inclusive of GST
