Tasting Notes: Subtle Citrus & Herb

This wine has subtle lemon citrus characters with a nettle, lime and herb background. The palate is fresh and clean with citrus, herb and soft herbaceous characters.

Background Information: The Deckchair wines are sourced from a new and exciting property 3km north of the township of Margaret River. The winery was formerly called Chalmers Estate and was planted in 1998, with 7.5 hectares under vine.

6J’s Wine Merchants are the proud agent for this brand, on an ongoing basis. The wines are made by former Pierro winemaker, Mick Scott. As the property is small Mick has had a hand in the tending to the vines, selecting the parcels of fruit and had full control in crafting the final wines.

The man and money behind the operation is a good friend of ours, Mal Gould. You may have heard his name in the past as he once owned Deep Woods Estate also in Margaret River. He built Deep Woods up from scratch and within six years had won a string of awards and trophies for his boutique wines. As well as this, the property was awarded a perfect 5 stars in the James Halliday ‘Wine Companion’.

Over the years Mal was approached by many people to sell and finally he caved in and sold for a pretty penny to Peter Foggarty of Lakes Folly fame.

Mal’s vision for his new venture is very simple. To keep it small, to surround himself with qualified people and most importantly “to make bloody great wine”. At 6J’s Wine Merchants we bloody well agree.
